Fire damaged an apartment in northwest Minot on Thursday afternoon, displacing the apartment’s resident until repairs can be made.
Minot Fire Department crews were called to 2015 8th St. NW at 1:44 p.m. for a smell of an electrical fire and smoke coming from the ceiling. Upon arrival at the scene, crews found light smoke coming from the eaves and roof vents of the building. One crew quickly located the source of the fire and extinguished it while other crews evacuated the apartment complex and checked for fire extending to other areas of the building. No extension was found.
The smoke was cleared from the building. No other hazards were noted, so all other residents were allowed back into their apartments. The apartment management company and the Red Cross were assisting the resident who was displaced. The resident was not home at the time of the fire.
The Minot Police Department assisted with the evacuations. All residents were safely evacuated. There were no civilian or emergency responder injuries.
The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office.
