Minot Public Library resuming in-person Story Time

The Minot Public Library will resume holding its in-person Story Time for children, beginning April 7.

The Library held Story Time virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Library Director Janet Anderson said there will be some changes to the format with in-person events starting again.

In-person Story Time will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday, with a maximum of 40 people at each session. Mondays will include a virtual Story Time at 10:30 a.m. and a take-and-make craft that can be picked up all week. Friday will have a virtual Sleepy Story Time at 7 p.m.

“The Story Times will be identical on Wednesday and Friday, so we’re encouraging people not to attend both of them,” Anderson said. “We want as many different patrons as possible to enjoy Story Time again.”

Children’s Librarian Randi Monley said it’s been more than a year since the Library has held in-person Story Time.

“We know that kids really look forward to this, and they’ve been missing that part of their life,” she said. “It will be good to help them get back into their routine.”

Anderson said they’re also asking parents or caregivers to remain in the room with the children during Story Time, rather than dropping off the children and leaving.

“It’s been a really long time and we’ve missed having our in-person Story Time,” Anderson said. “We wanted to restart it when we felt we were prepared and the participants and our staff could be safe. With the rollout of the vaccines and our patrons being great about wearing masks, which are still required in the Library, we felt it was time to start again.”
