2020 construction season is under way

The 2020 construction season is under way in Minot. In addition to major projects in southeast and southwest Minot, work has begun on completing projects on south Broadway that was unable to be completed in the fall of 2019 due to wet weather.

2019 construction continuation

-Concrete panel work on South Broadway from 16th Ave SW to 20th Ave SW, concrete grinding center lanes from 7th Ave SW to 15th Ave SW, also crack sealing the entire construction area, but this should be low impact and will be done as a moving operation. Completion by mid-July. Concrete grinding and panel replacement will begin April 27

-Flood control Phase MI-1 will continue with work along Railway Avenue, floodwalls in the area of 3rd St/5th Avenue NE, as well as at the pump station west of Broadway for all of 2020

-Flood control Phases MI-2 & 3 should be wrapped up by mid-2020. There will be interruptions in 16th Street Southwest traffic but we do not anticipate any road closures, only lane closures

-Work continues on the Water Treatment Plant expansion

-Hwy 83 Bypass – NDDOT project should be completed near end of June

-2019 Sidewalk, curb & gutter, corrective work on the corner of Broadway and 2nd Ave SW. Various other sidewalk/curb work in isolated locations along Broadway. Assessment roll work

2020 construction projects (totaling approximately $23.5 million)

-31st Ave SE reconstruction from Broadway to 13th Street SE roundabout, including impacts to 6th Street. This project has begun. The intersection of 31st Ave and 13th St SE is closed

-10th Street SW storm sewer district near the mall – storm sewer improvements and 10th St reconstruction

-30th Avenue NE sanitary sewer project near Minot International Airport

-Sanitary sewer lining project – more cost effective and less disruptive than replacement

-Water replacement – Old CIP pipe replaced with PVC, focused on areas with repetitive line breaks

-Joint project – 23rd Street NW from 7th Ave to Crescent Drive water main replacement then street reconstruction

-Street improvements – 8th Street NW from 10th Ave to 27th Ave mill and overlay, Burdick and 27th Street SE intersection mill & overlay, 16th Ave SE from Hiawatha to 13th St SE and 13th St to Valley Street mill & overlay

-Patching, sidewalk, curb & gutter, chip seal, and pavement marking in various areas throughout town

-SWIF – SWIF D work on the existing levee system will be completed in 2020 and SWIF E work will begin

-Traffic signal cabinet replacements at seven intersections

-HSIP project – rectangular rapid flashing beacon at the zoo and courthouse crossings. This is anticipated to begin mid-May
