Fire damages NW Minot apartment building

NW Minot fire2

The Minot Fire Department extinguished a fire in a northwest Minot apartment building Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to a call at 9:50 a.m. When they arrived on the scene at 1510 Terrace Drive they found fire on a third-floor balcony, with fire extending from the roof of the building to the ground on the exterior of the structure. A crew extinguished the exterior fire while other firefighters entered the building to make sure residents were evacuated. Firefighters also discovered fire in the building’s attic and quickly extinguished those flames.

Several occupants of the third-floor apartment were home at the time of the fire. All occupants of the building’s six apartments were safely evacuated without injury. There were no firefighter injuries in the incident.

The cause of the fire was determined to be improperly discarded smoking materials.
