Vehicle causes power outage in NW Minot

Thousands of Minot residents lost power on Wednesday due to a stolen vehicle striking a power box.

Officers had originally been dispatched to a call involving a rolling fight between a male and female. An officer spotted a vehicle matching a description given and followed it. The license plate was run and it was found that the vehicle was reported stolen earlier in the day. A stop of the vehicle was attempted near Trinity Homes on 3rd St NE; however, the vehicle fled from officers westbound on 8th Ave NE towards Broadway at a high rate of speed. The vehicle lost control after traveling about 3 blocks and left the roadway, flipping once, striking an electrical fixture and coming to rest after striking a tree. The driver was extricated from the vehicle by Minot Fire Dept. and transported to Trinity ER by Community Ambulance for treatment of non- life threatening injuries. Salters was placed under arrest for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Fleeing. He is still under observation at Trinity Hospital and will be transported to Ward County Jail upon his release.
