The Perkett Ditch project addresses interior drainage issues to prepare for the Napa Valley Levee that will begin construction next year. Enhancements such as the installation of a concrete bottom to the existing Perkett Ditch will address existing concerns related to stormwater drainage. Additionally, the ponding areas that will be created where the Centennial Forest was and will serve as retention and detention ponds during larger storm events. This solution provides a neighborhood amenity and allowed for a smaller pump station saving millions of dollars.
Here is what the project should look like:
Construction began on the project in August of 2016. Residents within the area are encouraged to be cautious and stay safe in the construction zone, which spans from Leach Park to the 83 Bypass.
No impacts to traffic or property access is expected at this time and Leach Park will remain open.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2017.
