Qualified applicants will be notified in, a timely manner, of the date, time and location of the required tests.
Applications/Resumes are accepted year round.
All applications must include official copies of college transcript and any additional materials such as cover letter, resume, and credentials to include licenses and certificates.
Applicants must complete the written police exam, complete a job related physical agility and fitness test, oral interviews, background investigation, personality assessment and post-offer medical exam.
In addition, applicants must meet one of four following requirements:
1) 60 or more accredited college credits
2) Possess a current North Dakota Peace Officer License
3) Completion of a state certified Law Enforcement Skills program
4) Certification of 4 years of full time US Military Service to include

Possession of a valid North Dakota driver’s license. Must be able to possess a North Dakota Peace Officer’s License within one year.
What the job of a police officer entails:
Law Enforcement can be a very rewarding and fulfilling profession. It requires both physical skills and mental abilities. An officer must be able to make decisions and act on them with limited time and information in situations where there is an element of danger. They must be able to deal with people in a variety of emotional states, while remaining calm and professional. Rigorous entry standards are absolutely necessary to ensure that officers are able to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
