Youth Track

Look for the Summer brochure to come around the 1st part of April. It will be handed out in the schools, and will have a lot of information in it about the summer activities. All programs are free.

Youth Spring Track
Youth Spring Track program for girls and boys in grades 3, 4, and 5. The meets will be held the first 3 Mondays in May (4th, 11th, and 18th) at 6 p.m. at Duane Carlson Stadium The meets will be running event only. no preregistration need.

Summer Olympics
Summer Olympics is a track meet for ages 6 to 14. Meets are held on Tuesday (June 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30) evenings at 6pm at Duane Carlson Field (7th Street and 11th Avenue Southwest) Children compete against others in the same age group in running, jumping and throwing events. Ribbons are given to all participants.

ND Youth State Track & Field Championships
NDRPA and Dakota Screen Arts are sponsor of this new event. The local qualifying meet will be held Thursday May 28 at the Duane Carlson Field. Children who are ages 7 to 14 as of December 31, 2015 (born 2007-2002) are eligible to compete. Everyone must pre-register by Friday, May 22 at the Recreation Office (420 3rd Avenue Southwest).

No entries will be accepted the night of the meet. The first 3 places in each event for the kids ages 9 to 14 will advance to the State Meet in Fargo ND on Saturday June 20th 2015. 7 to 8 year olds will not advance to the State Meet, but will receive ribbons for their participation.

Cross Country in the Park in the Fall
Fall Cross Country takes place in Roosevelt Park in Minot, North Dakota. Races will start promptly at 6 p.m.

Race Order / Distance
  • 6th Grade Girls: 1 mile
  • 6th Grade Boys: 1 mile
  • Pre-K and K (coed): 800 meters
  • Girls Grade 1 though 3: 1,000 meters
  • Boys Grade 1 through 3: 1,000 meters
  • Girls 4 through 5: 1.200 meters
  • Boys 4 through 5: 1,200 meters
There is no cost for your child to participate. The Minot Recreation Commission and the Minot High Girls Cross Country team will be hosting these races. Each student will receive a weekly ribbon and will also have the opportunity to receive an award at the end of the season. To be eligible to receive the end of the season award, you must complete 3 races.
